The Quiet Shrine
Third Time's the charm
After a fun week of playtesting, wrestling with layout, selecting some licensable art and writing, re-writing and then adding in a whole extra section, I made a thing!
You folks on substack are probably sick of the sight of this dungeon but I rewrote my Silent Shrine dungeon doodle as a full fledged adventure module for Shadowdark and published it as The Quiet Shrine on itch.io.
And people liked it!
Prior to this, the most I’ve done with my work is write blog entries and a single entry into a MÖRK BORG jam.
I posted links to it here in my notes and on the relevant discords and substacks and so far the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive - it’s a great feeling and really gives me a lot of drive to keep creating.
I learned a lot making it. Layout is hard! Columns, headers and placing filler art - yikes!
Choosing art is challenging! Big shoutout to Raging Swan Press for gifting me with the piece below as long as I credited the artist (I did and in case you’re interested, it’s Matt Morrow and he does amazing work).
Proofreading your own stuff isn’t enough! And above all, test your material. Also - a cool template filter can make all the difference. Remember my Dungeon Scrawl map? Have a look at what it looks like now:
I’d promised myself I would keep trying to blog regularly but I’ve decided to promise myself to create regularly too. I’ve been running games for two thirds of my life now and they say you should do what you love.
I love writing adventure modules.

Bought a copy! Planning on running this on Sunday since some players are missing from the main game.
That looks great! Love the layout.
